6 attractions in Long Island Europeans love

Long Island is an amazing place. Many Europans love it and visit it when passing nearby. But also a lot of Europeans have moved there over the years. There are many reasons why a person would want to move to Long Island. The location, job opportunities, and also it is known to be a good place for raising kids are just some of the reasons. We won’t be focusing on them since they vary from one person to another. What we will be focusing on are some attractions on Long Island. There are many but we selected the 6 we enjoyed the most. You will obviously need to continue your research later and find even more but this is just to get you started.

#1 Montauk Point Lighthouse

European digital nomads love Miami and NYC. But today we will be focusing on NYC obviously and some amazing things to see there. Montauk Point Lighthouse is a historical place that many tourists love to see. It can be found in the tiny community of Montauk at the easternmost tip of Long Island. The oldest lighthouse in NY State was appointed by George Washington and it was completed in 1797. This lighthouse served as a beacon of hope for millions of immigrants who saw it for the first time on their journey to the free world. After that, the military converted it into a tactical fire control station so that they could better direct artillery during World War II.

A large number of visitors come to the lighthouse every year to see the ocean and the seals that congregate nearby. Trails wind around the constructions and down to a rocky beach on these pet-friendly grounds. In addition to the museum housed in the Keepers’ house, which dates back to 1860, you can also reach the very top of the lighthouse for some breathtaking views.

#2 Jones Beach State Park

This one is our personal favorite place on Long Island. So, we had to share it with you. Just enjoying sugary sand was enough for us. After a swim, you can take a stroll along the boardwalk. There is a lot more you can do there like ride your bike, play some basketball or even miniature golf. Our favorite was relaxing on our beach blanket and listening to the waves. This place alone can be a reason enough to relocate here. If you do decide to move to Long Island, make sure to call divinemoving.com.

#3 The most obvious one – The Hamptons

This is the first thing that comes to mind when you ask Europeans about Long Island. They see it in movies and tv shows. So, obviously, it is a major attraction. The Hamptons, on the far eastern end of Long Island’s South Fork, are the epitome of a relaxing summer retreat, boasting both world-class beaches and charming hamlets and towns with grand, rambling homes set among perfectly manicured lawns.

Celebrity-watching events, art gallery openings, museum visits, outdoor dinners, and more can all fill your days. n.Miles of sandy beaches await you at this seaside resort. Do you feel like calling your friends to help you to pack and come here?

#4 Long Island Aquarium

If you are moving here with kids this is the place you need to visit together. Long Island’s Atlantis-themed aquarium has one of the world’s largest collections of live coral in the Americas. This aquarium features a huge shark tank, and several other indoor and outdoor displays of the island and marine life.

Did you know that you can touch tanks and you will also have other interactive features? That allows children to get up close and personal with the animals, whether it’s a meet-and-greet with penguins, a selfie with a sea lion, or feeding the seals. From kindergarten through high school, the aquarium has implemented online learning opportunities. If after visiting Long Island you decide to stay you should find movers. If you decide to stay, you will need some help especially when it comes to moving and settling in.

#5 Old Westbury Gardens

This grand estate in Old Westbury belonged to John S. and Margarita G. Phipps, and it looks like something out of The Great Gatsby. That’s why it is such an attraction.  The magnificent Westbury House is the centerpiece of Old Westbury Gardens. You can see their extensive lawns, rose gardens, fountains, water features, and peaceful ponds and lakes. Start off with some of the available tours of the beautiful mansion and grounds.

Concerts and other events are held on the main lawn of Old Westbury Gardens during the warmer months. Dog Days, held twice a year, is the gardens’ most well-attended event, drawing in dog owners and lovers for a day of hiking, themed entertainment, and shopping. If you decide to move here from Europe you will experience culture shock after getting here. Worry not – this is temporary.

#6 Another surreal place – Oheka Castle

Oheka Castle in Huntington. It’s located on the island’s highest point. This amazing place will transport you back in time to the Gilded Age of Long Island. The grounds of this French chateau-style building are a popular wedding venue thanks to Frederick Law Olmsted, who is also responsible for the design of Central Park. The initials of the previous owner were used to create the castle’s name. The grounds feature a golf course with 18 holes, a greenhouse with thousands of plants, and a formal French garden right in front of the house.

After Kahn passed away, the property changed hands several times. The most recent owner, Gary Melius, undertook a massive renovation that transformed the home into a five-star hotel. You can stay there if you wish.
